Buttermilk Pancakes

Quick and Easy Pancake Recipe.
Prep Time 25 minutes
Cook Time 30 minutes
Total Time 55 minutes
Servings: 4 people
Course: Breakfast
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 2 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tbsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 to 3 tbsp Granulated Sugar
  • 4 tbsp Melted Butter
  • 2 cups Buttermilk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 2 Eggs

Equipment

  • 1 Mixing Bowl
  • 1 Whisk
  • Measuring Cups & Spoons

Method

  1. Preheat your skillet on medium-low heat.
  2. A well preheated skillet is a must for good pancakes.
  3. Mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar together in the mixing bowl. Whisk to incorporate ingredients together.
  4. Mix in eggs, vanilla, buttermilk, and melted butter. Whisk until ingredients are incorporated.
  5. Let sit for 10 minutes to allow the gluten to relax and the flour to fully hydrate. This will give fluffier and taller pancakes.
  6. Start cooking your pancakes! You'll know they're ready to flip when air bubbles are breaking the surface and the edges of the pancakes are starting to cook. Aim for a golden brown.

Notes

Buttermilk substitute: Mix 1tbsp of white vinegar per cup of milk and let sit for 10 minutes (while you mix your dry ingredients)
